Public Apology I was looking over the GB quiz I created in light of recent events and I realized the note at the begining, which was included so that people would not be offended may have actually offended people. I AM VERY SORRY. This was not my intention. I simply didn't want people to think that certain characters (like Camilla and Taget) were being based on the actors -- they were not, some of the characters have obviously had more work done on them since the show was filmed. However I didn't realize that this made it seem like NONE of the characters resembled the actors and that it seemed like I was trying to take credit for charactistics and quirks that were invented by the actors as much as by me. That is NOT what I meant, and I am very sorry if it sounded that way. it has been changed and hopefully is okay now. In a show like the Gift Bearer which is filmed over a long period of time it can be difficult to discern what parts of the character were the creation of the writer and what parts were the creation of the actor. This is particularly true when characters are created for certain people or with certain people in mind to play them. It becomes hard to remember even what is the author's and what is the actor's. I maintain that I created -- at least in part -- all of the Gift Bearer (and Destiny, Pandora's Box, Curse, Dream Chaser,) characters except Starfire who was completely 1-dimenstional and the whole past and character was completely created by Mike Bunnell (and obviously Ryan is Ryan, and he's not so much a character as an actor). From the beginning when Jen Weber and Margaret Olson inspired me to create the series, Atlanta was ass-kicking, Minerva was goofy, Peri was a ditz, etc. HOWEVER, I created the bare bones of the personality. I will freely admit that the characters alone on the page of the script are lacking much of what the actors have brought to their roles. obviously Morgan put a lot of herself into Minvera, Brittany put a lot of herself into Peri, etc. I do not mean to minimize their roles in the creation of the characters when I say that I created them or envision the characters in certain ways. Believe it or not I do try very hard not to take credit where credit is not mine and there are many times when I have given credit to others rather then take it myself. However, where characters for the TV shows are concerned I have a tendancy to take more credit for them then perhaps is due -- I am very sorry for this. Like I said it's hard to tell what's mine and what's yours when the character has been affected and created by both author and actor. There are some characters I maintain solely as my own since I have only lent them to actors to portray and the image in my head of them -- the creation of them -- is so solid that the actors portrayal does little to affect it (such as Zandra and Taget), or the characters has been so vastly altered from the origional that they bear little resemblance to what was there (Balthazar and Ketlan come to mind here). But in the case of some characters like Minerva and Peri, it's hard to tell how they might have ended up had they only stayed on paper. Would they be the same? Probably not. Would they have the same depth and variety? Definately not. So for better or worse there are some characters that I cannot completely claim as my own and I do not mean to take the credit for them even though I often do. I am aware of just how much an actor can bring to a character and I also know you can't always go back to what came before even if you wanted to (which in many cases I don't). So to all of you out there who have acting in my projects over the years I want to say I am sorry. If I have ever taken credit for your ideas, your character quirks, or taken advantage of your assistence in any respect I am very, truly sorry. I do not mean to down play, ignore, or overshadow anyone's artistic accomplishments, and I am sorry if I have. I value your friendship as a co-worker, and from many of you I value your friendship as much more then that. While I'm apologizing, I would like to express my regret and apologies over my desision to take the Curse, Gift Bearer, and Dream Chasers away from SPC-TV. I really should not have done that because so many of the SPC-TV people worked so hard on those projects. Yes, the ideas for the show were mine (I still maintain creative copyright), and though they would not have happened without me they also would not have happened in that form without SPC-TV and the people there (they would have happened, just not in their current form). By taking them I ignored the contributions of the others and ignored their desire to have their efforts continue to be broadcast on a station to which they had given so much time and which had given so much to the shows themselves. So come the middle of May I will be shipping them back to SPC-TV to do with as they please. If they want to air them they are more then welcome to, if they want to burn them then that's up to them. I have a debt to settle and it is long past time that it was repaid. Once it has been, perhaps then I can move on with the part of my mind that never really has. Destiny and Pandora's Box, however, where not created for SPC-TV specifically or used anyone in them who is still there -- they were air there because they could be and were only ever on loan -- and those I will not be returning (because I don't feel guilty about taking them). Once again, I am very sorry for hurting anyone if I have. I do not mean to take credit where it is not solely mine, no do I seek to injure anyone intentionally. I am truly, deeply sorry if I have. *EDIT* and just in case you're wondering -- why yes, the world does revolve around me. ;P (geez, can I be anymore yibblecentric?) Doctor Who Contest Winners Here are the winners from the Doctor Who Contest I held on www.thedollpalace.com. Fantasy, Floods, and Filimg -- Oh my! I'm being interviewed by email right now for a Champaign-Urbana film magazine's website blog called C-U Blogfidential. The interview won't be out for a while and at the rate I'm going will be 700 pages long. ;) This is the second question I've answered (I'm not going to bother posting the first), but I liked my extremely long-winded response so much that I thought I'd post it here. ( you_asked_for_it )Despretely yearning to write a dissertation? Who me? Yeah, I think that might have to be cut down. Sometimes, late at night, I lie in bed and write out detailed essays in my head about universal themes, archetypal characters, and the struggle of the forces of nature versus human civilaztion. Clearly my needs are not being met. Current Mood: contemplativeCurrent Music: The Fallen by Franz Ferdinand | | Tuesday, September 19th, 2006 | | 11:31 am |

Music Videos I just saw the music videos for Bring Me to Life and Going Under (both by Evanescence) and they are awesome! Particularly Going Under -- beautiful, haunting, and disturbing all at the same time. You have seen these, right Morgan? You are Elizabeth I. Need I say more? You are majestic and strong. Even though you play games with people, you stand by what you believe in. Elizabeth never married, yet fooled the court into thinking she was considering. That's what I meant. Friends mean a lot to you and so do the arts. You understand what it is like outside of where you are. You live life to it's fullest. Please rate my quiz. What famous female ruler are you? Morgan's Quiz Your ideal Middle-Earth parents are Aragorn and Arwen! They are the king and queen of Gondor, which makes you a prince or princess. Not too shabby, huh? Youll get to take over the kingdom someday. Look at you, all heir-to-the-throne-y! Oh, did I mention that you are gorgeous? Your Middle-Earth mama is practically a supermodel, while your Middle-Earth dad managed to turn heads at eighty-seven years old. Youve hit the genetic lottery, my friend! Your last name is Telcontar and you live in the city of Minas Tirith. Your Middle-Earth mama is Arwen Undomiel. She is an elf but gave up her immortality to be with your dad. If you do something bad she will probably lower her head in sorrow and shed a tear or two, which, although it may not be her intention, is major guilt tripping. Through Arwen you are related to Elrond and Celebrian (your grandfather and grandmother) and Celeborn and Galadriel (your great-grandparents). She is also a link to your uncles Elladan and Elrohir, who spoil you rotten. Your Middle-Earth dad is Aragorn. Since he became king he has been going by King Elessar, but he has a lot of other names too. He is an amazing warrior and will teach you everything he knows. Some dads play football with their kids - your dad gave you your first sword at the age of three! Aragorn is the disciplinarian, and since your grandfather Elrond raised him he is very stern when necessary. Just behave yourself and you should be fine. I hope you liked my quiz. Please rate it, okay? Which Lord of the Rings couple would be your dream parents? Pictures and longish answers. brought to you by Quizilla | | Tuesday, March 16th, 2004 | | 10:19 am |
Potter Puppet Pals I'll do an update on my ever fun weekend a little later, but for now I thought I'd post a link to this very funny flash movie site. It's obviously a spoof on Harry Potter, but I thought it was funny, so enjoy. Okay, the program's being a bitch! I'll see if I can post it from work, but I won't count on it. I'll get it to you somehow Morgan!! Check back on sunday night and if it's not up by then I will hand deliver it next weekend! SORRY!!! | | Thursday, March 4th, 2004 | | 2:01 pm |
Yah! I'm a monk! This one is one of my personal favorites You are a Monk from the Order of St. Vidicon. Vidicon is the Saint of Technology. The monks save science and kept the traditions of today alive during the future dark ages, much like the monks of the middle ages. Today you would be called a geek -- computer loving, pocket protector, glasses and baseball cap, but in the world of Pandora's Box you are a hero who wields technology like a sword. However, being a monk, you are celibate, religious, and not into money -- gadgets yes, money no. You believe in the power of good over evil and that science is not a sin, but a savior if it is used for to promote peace and understanding. What organization do you belong to? (A Pandora's Box Quiz) brought to you by Quizilla | | 1:56 pm |
Yet another quiz... You are an Underworlder. Divided into four kingdoms of Bandits, Cutthroats, Beggars, and Theives you live in a secret world with what some people would call "the scum of the earth". You know that there is honor even among thieves, and would never betray your brothers or sisters. In the end, however, you are always out for yourself. You like to make a quick buck -- preferably at the expense of someone else, and have a complete lack of authority for any organization except your own. You are sneaky, practical, and quick with your hands and your mind. To you money speaks and it says "Hello! Put me in your pocket and take me home!" What organization do you belong to? Does it ever stop?!?!? First, I have to share some comments from Bryan (Jenny's roommate and a very cool guy) in regards to The Curse that he has just finished watching. He called me up and mentioned these things and I laughed -- a lot. His favorite character is Maria because she's so strong and practical and without her nothing would get done and all of the other characters would have died multiple times. The funny thing is, that is SO TRUE!!! I always said she was the only real "hero" in the group with the possible exception of Cory. He also declared at Mordecai has the maturity of a twelve year old. Tee Hee! Again very true. The funny thing is he's still more mature then Zandra! (who registers about 8 yrs old on the scale). Okay, so enough about the Curse
Moving onto Eidolon (cause that's not the Curse at all, right?) Lots and lots of fun cool stuff seem to be developing for it. Really too much to explain here I guess, I'm just really having fun working with the characters, the situation and all the imput from the actors -- it's like a creative sandstorm, it's great! The only problem is that I am still partially working on Destiny right now so my mind is either in one universe or the other. I think I am going to have to set Destiny aside this week and see if I can throw out a rough draft of all 8 episodes. Oops, work is calling me. Gotta go! | | Monday, March 1st, 2004 | | 10:35 am |
I'm harry potter! Who knew? I couldn't resist submitting the results of this one, even though he's not a TV hero. Tee hee! Harry Potter ---> Youve had a hard life. Your constantly catchin up with the guy who killed your parents, and you always manage to beat him but he always comes back. You never leave the house without your wand, broom, and roundy round glasses. What TV Show Hero Would You Most Likley Be? brought to you by Quizilla |
